Understanding the Pitbull Mastiff Mix
Appearance
The English Mastiff cross Pitbull usually showcases a robust and muscular build, reflecting the strengths of both breeds. These dogs can weigh between 70 to over 120 pounds and vary in height from 24 to 30 inches. Their coat is typically short and may come in a variety of colors, including black, brown, fawn, brindle, and white.
Temperament
One of the key advantages of the Pitbull Mastiff mix is its temperament. Contrary to the myths surrounding Pitbulls and Mastiffs, well-bred and well-socialized Pitbull Mastiffs tend to be friendly, loyal, and affectionate towards their families. They are known for their protective nature, making them excellent guard dogs. However, effective training and socialization from a young age are crucial to modifying their behavior positively.
While they can be aggressive if not trained properly, many owners attest that they are gentle giants, particularly with children, thanks to their softer Mastiff genetics.
